Recently, the market has seen an influx of so-called "green" products. We have used and tested many of these products and are eager to discuss the results of our testing as well as the options in front of you as you seek to make your home a healthier place for you and your family.
There are several products on the market which we may recommend for different applications including AFM's Safecoat, Benjamin Moore's Aura, Mythic Paint, Vermont Natural Coatings and others.
This is a new construction home we did in winter 2007-08 right here in our hometown, St. George, Vermont. All walls, ceilings and painted trim were done in Benjamin Moore’s Eco Spec line. Eco Spec was one of the original low voc paints which Ben Moore has recently transitioned into a no-voc product.
All the Birdseye Maple cabinets and window sills received two coats of Vermont Natural Coatings satin polyurethane. This is a water-based interior polyurethane derived from whey, a bi-product of cheese making. Vermont Natural Coatings is made in Hardwick, Vermont and is available at several local paint and flooring stores.
